Biography
Born around 1978 in Brazil, Marquee first gained traction through her contributions to multi-media stage productions and modest independent cinema projects, where her efforts met with quiet success. Recognition as a singer-songwriter followed, initially confined to local circles before expanding more broadly, aided by her position as frontwoman for the Brazilian salsa ensemble Heart Breakers. Entering the early 2000s, she ranked among the leading figures in the emerging wave of Brazilian talent. Her style merges samba traditions with modern electro-pop textures, drawing primary support from listeners of her own age while also resonating with older generations. The material she performs features covers of Jorge Ben Jor’s “Zumbi” and Caetano Veloso’s “A Voz Do Morto,” alongside original pieces such as “Carmesim,” “Cantos De Trabalho,” “Sambadelic,” and “O Que Aconteceu Com Nosso Amor?” Collaborators have included Maurício Tagliari, Luca Raele, Rica Amabis, and André Mehmari.
