Biography
An Italian composer and pianist by the name of Andrea Padova received his training in composition under Franco Donatoni and in piano under Vincenzo Vitali, Aldo Ciccolini, and Eric Larsen at Rome’s National Academy of St. Cecilia. Engaged with contemporary repertoire, he has collaborated with Pierre Boulez, Goffredo Petrassi, and Leonard Bernstein, yet he has also presented early music in keeping with period performance conventions. After claiming first prize at the 1995 J.S. Bach International Piano Competition, Padova embarked on an international schedule of recitals and orchestral engagements that took him to Carnegie Hall, the Washington Performing Arts Library, La Scala, the Academy of St. Cecilia, the Early Music Festival in Urbino, the Vienna Festival of New Music, and numerous additional major stages. His recordings appear on the Stradivarius label.
