Boston vocalist Andrea Ross secured the mentorship of Andrew Lloyd Webber in 2004, when the composer placed her under his guidance and supplied the means for a major career launch at the unusually young age of thirteen. Her path in performance had already begun years earlier during her studies at the Franklin School for the Performing Arts, where she earned parts in several area stage productions and took the title role in Tuck Everlasting during 2001. After Webber discovered her work online, Ross became the youngest winner of the Elliot Norton Award for Outstanding Actress in 2005 and appeared in a staging of The Sound of Music. Through her ongoing collaboration with the composer, she recorded a collection of well-known numbers drawn from landmark musicals; the resulting album, Moon River, appeared on Universal Classics in March 2007. That release reached the Top 50, and the same year Ross performed at the Concert for Princess Diana memorial event. While her professional schedule remained demanding, she completed her secondary education as a member of the class of 2009 at Noble and Greenough School and continued attending public schools throughout Massachusetts.
