Biography
Andrew Baxter, a fiddler active in one of the first racially integrated string bands, cut his debut sides in 1928 while working with the Georgia Yellow Hammers. He later received a separate session spotlighting his son Jim on vocals and guitar. That duo introduced “K.C. Railroad Blues” to record, then laid down further tracks such as “The Moore Girl” in the late ’20s, selections later gathered on Document’s String Bands 1926-1929. They kept playing locally until both men died in the 1950s.
