Biography
Born in 1975 in New York City, Brown picked up the guitar upon turning 15 and discovered the blues during his time residing in Cincinnati. While still attending school he began performing on a semi-professional basis. Jazz captured his attention at age 20, with guidance from Cal Collins, Ron Enyard, Steve Schmidt and Kenny Poole—the last of whom served as his mentor. Brown eventually returned to his birthplace and established a presence on the local jazz circuit through associations with Howard Alden, Joe Cohn, Randy Sandke and Frank Tate. Relocating to Chicago in 2003, he collaborated with numerous players including Kurt Elling, Chris Foreman, Kimberly Gordon, Bobby Lewis, Hod O'Brien, Russ Phillips, Judy Roberts and Petra van Nuis. A fluid player and sparkling improviser, Brown regularly performs with bassist Jake Vinsel and drummer Mike Schlick in his trio.
