Biography
Angela Hagenbach ranks among the foremost Brazilian jazz vocalists residing in Kansas City and has issued two compelling albums to date on the Amazon label. She was raised in a household filled with music, with a father who played saxophone and a mother who played piano. As the seventh of eight children, she devoted seven years to the trombone while also working as a model and serving as keyboardist and singer in a top 40 group. In 1989 an encounter with Sarah Vaughan led her to turn at once to jazz singing. The next year she launched a regular solo engagement at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Kansas City that continued for four years and additionally performed at multiple music festivals. Her command of both swinging first-rate standards and sensitive Portuguese-language material comes across vividly on the recordings Come Fly With Me and Feel The Magic.
