Biography
Angelica Rockne makes her home in Nevada City, California, where she merges country-rock steeped in 1970s influences with strands of psych, folk, and indie rock. The singer and songwriter first established herself within the Bay Area underground community as a participant in the dark shoegaze outfit Evil Eyes, before venturing forward independently through the earthen folk of her 2014 debut EP, What Will I Dream. Relocating farther inland to the mountainous terrain of Nevada City encouraged a shift in direction, leading Rockne toward a more vintage sound that echoes the country-psych of late-period Byrds while incorporating a measure of honky tonk attitude. Teaming with a fresh backing band featuring ace guitarist Blake Severn, she captured the full-length Queen of San Antonio, issued in 2017.
