Angerfist ranks among the foremost figures in hardcore techno across the twenty-first century as a Dutch DJ and producer. His output maintains extreme intensity via heavily distorted kick drums thundering near 150 or 160 BPM, ominous sawtooth synthesizer lines, and raw samples or shouted vocals. Instantly identifiable through his white hockey mask and black hoodie, Danny Masseling has performed at nearly every major hardcore festival while building a broad international audience; onstage he is accompanied by MC Prozac, real name Minne Roos.

Masseling entered the world in 1981 and first produced music during his teenage years. He submitted a demo to the notorious gabber artist DJ Buzz Fuzz, founder of BZRK Records. Releases under the Menace II Society name appeared on BZRK in 2002, while separate EPs came out on other labels credited to Kid Morbid and Angerfist that same year. Though material issued under all three aliases registered strongly within the hardcore community, he concentrated on Angerfist as his central identity and rapidly established himself as a sought-after live act.

Further Angerfist EPs continued on Masters of Hardcore, and the arrival of the double-CD/DVD Pissin' Razorbladez in 2006 confirmed his status as the leading exponent of newstyle, or mainstream, hardcore. The double-CD Mutilate followed in 2008 after a well-attended live event. Additional EPs and mix CDs ensued, resulting in multiple appearances on DJ Magazine’s annual Top 100 list, an uncommon distinction for any hardcore DJ. The triple-CD Retaliate surfaced in 2011; unlike the preceding Angerfist albums, it was issued through Cloud 9 Dance and therefore proved easier to obtain. Another triple-CD, The Deadfaced Dimension, arrived in 2014, followed by the double-CD Raise & Revolt in 2015.
