Biography
Born as the ninth and tenth offspring to Mom & Pop Winans, Angie and Debbie Winans came of age inside what stands as the gospel world’s most musically accomplished household and later traced the career routes established by their older brothers, who perform as the Winans, as well as the sibling duo BeBe & CeCe, who occupy the seventh and eighth positions in the birth order. Backup vocal contributions to numerous Winans family recordings followed, including tour work alongside Whitney Houston. Capitol issued the sisters’ self-titled debut album in 1993. Bold, arriving in 1997, registered strongly on gospel charts, although the song “Not Natural” provoked debate over Angie & Debbie’s conservative views on homosexuality.
