Biography
Formed in 1987, the experimental pop outfit Animal Logic originated from an extensively planned partnership between Stewart Copeland, the drummer formerly of the Police, and jazz fusion bass virtuoso Stanley Clarke. After sifting through hundreds of demo submissions and conducting auditions, the pair identified Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter Deborah Holland and brought in Andy Summers, Copeland’s former bandmate, to complete the original roster. First known as Rush Hour, the ensemble performed throughout Brazil before adopting the Animal Logic name and, without Summers, entered the studio to capture their self-titled 1989 debut LP. Animal Logic II appeared in 1991 as the trio’s concluding release.
