Anjani

Hailing from Honolulu, Hawaii, pianist and vocalist Anjani merges her affinity for jazz with folk, Hawaiian, and an array of other musical influences. Anjani Thomas studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston prior to relocating to New York City. In the early 1980s she played venues throughout Manhattan, where she eventually encountered the legendary singer and songwriter Leonard Cohen. Her subsequent tours and studio collaborations with Cohen, notably on his 1988 album I'm Your Man and 1992's The Future, paved the way for her debut self-titled solo release in 2000. The spiritually minded The Sacred Names appeared the following year. Rejoining Cohen, who served once more as co-writer and producer, she issued Blue Alert on Sony in 2006.
