Biography
Ann Dyer stood out as an impressive risk-taking vocalist, emerging as a standout success at the 1994 Monterey Jazz Festival by expanding familiar standards and channeling intense feeling into Ornette Coleman's "Lonely Woman." After completing her modern dance degree at Mills College in 1979, she initially aimed for a career in dance, though her singing ultimately earned stronger praise. Her debut recording appeared on the Mr. Brown label in 1993.
