Biography
Singer/songwriter Ann Marita developed an early passion for country music rooted in her childhood amid the Norwegian Mountains and the steady presence of her parents' Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, and Johnny Cash albums. While still a teenager she started composing original material, which eventually led to her role as lead singer with an international ensemble performing aboard a northern European cruise liner. The widely traveled performer has called home a mining town above the Arctic Circle, as well as locations in Sweden and Iowa. A misguided bid to enter the Hollywood music scene ended when she fell victim to a fraudulent production scheme that left her without resources or prospects, prompting her to relocate to Australia with fresh resolve. There, supported by several of the nation's most accomplished players, she captured her self-titled debut album, issued in June 2004.
