Biography
Emerging from America’s heartland, Anna McClellan established herself as an indie pop singer and songwriter known for her straightforward yet reflective style through the release of her debut full-length, Fire Flames, during 2015. This effort secured her a contract with Father/Daughter Records, the imprint responsible for her later output, such as the 2020 third album I saw first light.
Hailing from Omaha, Nebraska, McClellan initiated local performances of her piano-driven compositions upon turning 17. Majestic Litter issued Fire Flames on cassette in 2015. Greta Kline became an admirer of the album’s unconventional, discontented tracks and close-knit ensemble setups, leading to an invitation for McClellan to join tour dates supporting Frankie Cosmos. Recognizing her potential, Father/Daughter Records inked a deal with the artist and released her sophomore LP, Yes and No, in 2018. During this period, she spent a short time living in New York City prior to heading back to Omaha, where she captured her next record alongside area players and companions. Father/Daughter Records made I saw first light available toward the end of 2020.
