An inventive Canadian saxophonist bridging avant-garde and modern classical realms, Anna Webber started drawing notice once she settled in New York during 2008. In addition to collaborations alongside figures such as Dave Douglas, Erik Hove, and Ches Smith, she has produced exploratory recordings of her own, among them Refraction in 2014 with the Percussive Mechanics ensemble, Binary in 2016 that presented her Simple trio alongside drummer John Hollenbeck and pianist Matt Mitchell, and Shimmer Wince in 2024 featuring trumpeter Adam O'Farrill.

Born in 1984, Webber spent her formative years in British Columbia and refined her technique at McGill University in Montreal. She moved to New York City in 2008, obtaining a master's degree from the Manhattan School of Music, and she also possesses a second master's from the Jazz Institute Berlin. After arriving, Webber launched her discography as a leader via Third Floor People in 2010, captured with distinct groups in both Montreal and New York. She has appeared alongside other forward-thinking musicians and ensembles such as Jen Shyu's Jade Tongue, Dan Weiss' Sixteen, Dave Douglas' Engage, the Erik Hove Chamber Ensemble, Ches Smith's Laugh Ash, and additional projects. During this period she earned distinctions including the 2010 Prix François-Marcaurelle from the OFF Festival of Jazz in Montreal and the 2014 BMI Foundation Charlie Parker Composition Prize.

As a bandleader, Webber issued the self-titled debut from Percussive Mechanics in 2013. The following year brought Simple, the initial outing for her trio with Hollenbeck and Mitchell. Binary followed in 2016 as the next trio statement. She contributed to sessions involving Elias Stemeseder, Erik Hove, Evan Tighe, and Vicky Mettler, among others. Clockwise, her first septet album, appeared in 2019. A subsequent Simple Trio release, Idiom, emerged in 2021, succeeded by the duo recording Capacious Aeration with Mitchell in 2023. In 2024 she and Simpletrio2000 delivered the layered Shimmer Wince, which included trumpeter Adam O'Farrill, cellist Mariel Roberts, keyboardist Elias Stemeseder, and drummer Lesley Mok.
