Listen on Coda
From the age of five, Anne Lindsay received instruction in voice, piano, and violin, though the last of these became her strongest pursuit and prompted further studies at both the Royal Conservatory of Music and York University. Her formative years also exposed her to the playing of Jean-Luc Ponty alongside the sounds of the Grateful Dead and Jimi Hendrix, a combination that ultimately shaped a broad stylistic range and opened doors to performances alongside Roger Daltrey, Blue Rodeo, members of Led Zeppelin, and the Chieftains. Working primarily as a freelance musician, Lindsay paused her career for eight years to focus on her family and the upbringing of her children. She resumed recording in 2001 with her first album, Eavesdropping, which was made in Toronto and draws together elements of chamber music, jazz, rock, and classical traditions. She remains active on tour, appearing in concert with Jim Cuddy and John McDermott.
