A Diamond award-winning singer and songwriter, Annette Ducharme began her recording career alongside a partner in the Bowers Ducharme Duo, which issued the EP In Real Life in 1981. Nearly a decade would pass before she issued a solo debut, after which additional albums appeared both under her own name and via the alias Don't Argue With Her. Although she remained active on stages two decades after her first performances, her path in music featured repeated absences; by the close of the 1990s, however, extensive touring and multiple video releases suggested a more sustained presence.

Born in Windsor, Ontario, Annette Ducharme—known to fans and friends as Anet—started out at modest local venues that allowed her to refine both vocal and guitar abilities. Following the 1981 EP, her trajectory appeared promising until she withdrew from view for the balance of the decade. She resurfaced in 1989 as a solo artist with the album Blue Girl, which drew favorable critical notices and brought award nominations in both performance and composition categories. To support the project she traveled across Canada and into the United States as opener for Richard Marx. Five years afterward came the full-length Sanctuary; in 1995 she released Bloom under the Don't Argue With Her moniker, then returned to her given name for 1997’s Tortured. The title song from that album appeared in the summer hit Urban Legend and on its soundtrack.

In addition to her own singing and guitar work, Ducharme has written material for fellow artists, among them the Tom Cochrane hit single “Sinking Like a Sunset.” Selections from her catalog include “Stop Shooting Me,” “Will of the Gun,” “Realness,” “Stay (Don’t Go),” “For the Moon,” and “Cursed.” She performs backed by drummer Stu Fazekas, bassist Ken Corke, keyboardist Vince Sciara, and guitarist Jamie Lizmore.
