Formed in France during the early 1980s, the electronic dream pop trio Antena wove bossa nova textures into their understated sound, only to find themselves overshadowed within the wider Factory Records orbit. Isabelle Powaga, Sylvain Fasy, and Pascale Moiroud crafted material that might have fit comfortably alongside the label’s storied releases, yet their output surfaced instead on Factory Benelux, the continental outpost created to preview tracks and prepare the ground for major Factory U.K. acts touring Europe. The year 1980 brought the single “The Boy from Ipanema” and the mini-album Camino del Sol, the latter expanded by Crepuscule two years later. Major-label contracts with Island and Mercury arrived after Powaga had already assumed sole artistic command of the project. She subsequently launched a solo career as Isabella Antena, issuing more than ten albums that explored jazz, Latin, and funk directions. In 2004 Numero Group reissued and enlarged Camino del Sol once more, adding the previously unreleased tracks “Frantz” and “Ingenuous.” Toujours du Soleil appeared in 2006, followed by Bossa Super Nova in 2010.
