Francisque gathered together a set of seventy lute compositions under the title "Le tresor d'Orphee: livre de tablature de luth," presenting the volume to the Prince of Conde, in whose service he then worked. Dances of many kinds formed the bulk of its pages, alongside a handful of preludes and fantasias. Within the same pages Francisque also supplied his own lute settings of several well-known melodies. The collection stands out above all for the detailed guidance it offers on moving between different forms of lute tablature and conventional staff notation in either direction.
