Anthony Cox

A skilled bassist still early in his career, he brings notable adaptability to a wide range of musical approaches. Having appeared on sessions with assorted ensembles, he has now released a project under his own leadership. Cox rejects association with the “young lion” hard bop movement and likewise stands apart from the instrumental pop and fusion circles. His efforts instead alternate between compelling straight-ahead jazz and more expansive works that draw on rock textures. ~ Ron Wynn
