Biography
Known for his command of an array of traditional blues idioms spanning soul-tinged jazz to rollicking juke-joint rhythms, Anthony Paule has issued several solo albums while gaining equal recognition through his sideman contributions alongside Boz Scaggs and Charlie Musselwhite as well as his partnerships with vocalists Frank Bey and Wee Willie Walker. Residing in the Bay Area, Paule issued his first record, Big Guitar, during 1995. Two years later came the 2001 follow-up Hiding in Plain Sight. Teaming with Frank Bey in 2013 produced the concert recording You Don't Know Nothing, after which the pair delivered the studio album Soul for Your Blues before the year ended. Their 2015 release Not Goin' Away drew primarily on newly written material. In 2017 Paule assembled the Anthony Paule Soul Orchestra to accompany Wee Willie Walker, and the ensemble issued After a While that same year.
