Biography
ANTiSEEN first emerged in 1983 as a North Carolina-based "destructo" punk band whose chief claim to recognition rests on their role as the backing group for G.G. Allin's Murder Junkies LP. The outfit fused redneck rock, punk, pro-wrestling motifs, and confrontational stage behavior into an idiosyncratic style that attracted a following sizable enough to warrant a 2006 coffee table book devoted to the group's exploits. Their recorded output stretched from the 1988 album Honour Among Thieves to the 2002 live set Screamin' Bloody Live. The most notorious episode arrived in 1991, when the musicians drew sudden notice by supporting G.G. Allin, then regarded as the most notorious so-called punk performer in the United States. Anchored by Joe Young and Jeff Clayton, ANTiSEEN and its succession of supporting players maintained the "destructo" approach well into the opening decade of the twenty-first century. A fifty-song tribute album performed by fifty separate bands, issued in 2006 under the title Everybody Loves Antiseen, further documented the group's influence.
