Biography
Apassionata emerged as a classical crossover and new age/ethnic fusion duo built around Don Lax on violin and Vance Koenig on guitar. The musicians first encountered each other during engagements at hotels and resorts throughout Hawaii. Their debut recording, Kiss of Fire, drew partial influence from Gypsy and tango sources. While appearing at the Four Seasons in Wailea, the pair fielded repeated requests for material by Andrea Bocelli. Lax, who took up the violin in early childhood and pursued studies at conservatories in Paris and Rome, collaborated with Koenig, who trained at the Berklee and Aspen schools of music, to commit their Bocelli-inspired interpretations to disc as the follow-up release Romantic Dreams: From the Repertoire of Andrea Bocelli.
