Wade McDaniel, known under multiple aliases such as thewade, the Pox, and sir Waderick, shapes the intricate, electrified experimental textures that define Aproximation. From his base in Boulder, Colorado, he launched the project on his own, separate from commitments with the groups mAYhEm, thewade, and Meathooks of Freedom. McDaniel’s training across the arts and computing fields, together with graduate-level exploration of digital synthesizers and real-time performance tools, molds Aproximation’s layered yet engaging sound, which also stems from his wish to share concepts and moments directly with listeners. The same interactive impulse appears in his dynamic Megadolkadot site and in Noise, the journal he issues alongside frequent partner Maggie "mAYhEm" Snyder. Working as sculptor, visual artist, and musician, he issued Aproximation’s first album, Disknextnext, on the Megadolkadot imprint in 2005.
