Ari Pulkkinen, recognized worldwide due to his composition for the Angry Birds video game, works as a composer and sound designer focused on computer music for video games. Helsinki, Finland, welcomed his birth in 1982, after which he commenced piano studies upon turning six, began composing songs by the time he reached twelve, and developed a passion for tracker-based computer music during his teenage years. In 1999 he produced a soundtrack album intended for the freeware title Starfight VI: Gatekeepers. Once he attained the age of twenty-one, which occurred in 2003, the Finnish studio FrozenByte engaged him to create original music along with sound effects for their projects, among them Shadow Grounds and its sequel Shadow Grounds: Survivor. The year 2008 saw him establish AriTunes as his personal sound production enterprise.

The year 2009 brought the debut of his Angry Birds theme on iOS platforms, with swift expansion to additional mobile operating systems, personal computers, and console systems. Numerous follow-up games, derivative titles, a television series, amusement park features, and a 2016 animated movie all emerged from the game's popularity. During September of 2011 the London Philharmonic Orchestra included selections from the Angry Birds score in a concert dedicated to video game music. Later compositions encompass Trine 2 from 2011, Resogun released in 2013, Trine 3: The Artefacts of Power appearing in 2015, and Nex Machina from 2017.
