Biography
Taylor Vick anchors the Oakland trio Art Moore, whose narrative-driven indie rock pairs emotionally charged scene painting with exacting instrumental command. Before the band coalesced and joined ANTI- for its 2022 self-titled debut, Vick’s eventual partners had already recorded alongside Ezra Furman.
The three musicians first convened in early 2020 as an unnamed studio venture linking Vick—then active under the solo alias Boy Scouts—with Sam Durkes and Trevor Brooks, both prior Ezra Furman associates. Their initial goal was to produce tracks suited for film and television placement, yet the sessions quickly revealed a natural rapport that steered the project toward a proper band format. When the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the wider music business soon after they began, the trio channeled the resulting lull into sustained work on the material. They ultimately adopted the name Art Moore and devoted months to shaping the ten songs that comprise the debut. Issued by ANTI- in August 2022, the album frames Vick’s stark depictions of loneliness, loss, and time’s passage with understated electronic textures woven into measured indie-rock arrangements.
