Biography
Born in Cuba, guitarist Arturo Fuerte grew up inside a modest local family. As his interest in music deepened, he constructed an early guitar from wood and fishing wire. He completed a master’s degree in classical guitar after finishing studies at Havana’s Amadeo Roldan conservatory, then relocated to the U.S. in 1980. Arturo Fuerte issued his first album, Passion, in 1995; Illusion followed, appearing after a live show at Miami’s Coconut Grove on March 18, 1998. Once Obsession had been released, an album that mixes flamenco, Afro-Caribbean rhythms, and gypsy rumba, Universal Music brought out his fourth album, Gypsy Heart (Corazón Latino), in September of 2000.
