Biography
Jay Clarke, a musician from Portland affiliated with the Standard and Dolorean, launched his Ash Black Bufflo project in the opening years of the 2000s. Performing in this guise—which also includes stage appearances with Grails and Holy Sons—he departs from indie and post-rock to emphasize dense, electronically tinged soundtrack material. Having composed the score for the 2010 documentary Marwencol, he completed Andasol, his first Ash Black Bufflo album, issued in 2011 on Brooklyn’s Knitting Factory Records.
