Biography
Among guitar students, Askold Buk has earned recognition as the creator of both The Advanced Guitar Case Chord Book and Practical Pentatonics while also supplying material to Guitar World and Guitar School. His career has encompassed work with the New York rock outfits Sweatbox and Surround as well as studio appearances beside jazz trumpeter Hugh Masakela, the worldbeat collective Bature (which featured Wayne Shorter and Alex Acuna), and blues legend Johnnie Johnson. Toward the end of the 1990s he originated and guided a well-received sequence of instructional guitar videos, conducting interviews and supplying accompaniment for B.B. King, John Scofield, Jack Bruce, Albert Lee, Steve Morse, and Hank Marvin. His self-titled debut appeared in late 2000, its clean and blues-inflected guitar lines supported by bassist Gene Eames and drummer Courtney Williams.
