Biography
Atombombpocketknife, abbreviated as ABPK and based in Chicago, features Che Arthur on guitar, Allison Hollihan on bass, Justin Sinkovich handling vocals and guitar, and Matt Espy on drums. The group has refined its lush indie rock approach since the late 1990s and gained visibility throughout the Midwest. Southern issued the self-titled 10" in 1999, though the band’s first full-length appearance came with 2000’s Alpha Sounds. That album supplied a slick and sultry introduction, and repeated North American tours—among them dates with Man or Astroman?, Pinback, and Judah Johnson—helped build Atombombpocketknife’s expanding audience. God Save the ABPK appeared in fall 2001. Following the album’s tour cycle, Espy exited the band. Sterling drummer Tony Lazzara joined, enabling the remaining members to begin composing material for their third release. File 13 slated Lack and Pattern for April 2004.
