Atomic Mint

Origin: U.S.A
Listen on Coda
Formed as a threesome hailing from Silicone Valley, California, Atomic Mint built an entertaining yet inventive base from the outset. Fronting the group with wide-ranging vocals and guitar work, Brianna Wanlass pens every lyric, while she, bassist Dave Hermocillo, and percussionist Amadeo Donofrio together shape the music. Each member also channels expression through painting, drawing, sculpturing, and photography, yielding a fusion that merges rap, electro-funk, blues, jazz, and indie rock into something irreverent and morose yet sharply melodic and singular.

The band tracked its initial demo in 1999 and, in July 2001, issued the debut album A Better Mouse Trap. That release, received warmly, spotlighted Wanlass’s vocal strengths more than the ensemble’s complete sonic range. In November 2001, Misha Guiffre, previously of Manic Notion, came aboard and introduced an added dimension of originality.
