Atticus Fault, a Nashville quartet, crafts a dense and rich sonic palette reminiscent of U2 alongside Coldplay, positioning itself as a band for everyday laborers. From the middle of the 1990s onward, this group harbored ambitious aspirations in music. Todd Evans, serving as lead vocalist and guitarist, operated as an independent creator based in Franklin, Tennessee. During an evening in 1997, Chris Laurent, who plays bass, approached him for an introduction. An instant rapport developed between them, leading to collaborative song composition. Paul Asciutto III on drums and Jason Noe handling guitar came aboard soon after, marking the formation of Atticus Fault.

Over subsequent years, the ensemble refined its musical identity without abandoning regular employment. While Laurent, Noe, and Asciutto handled shifts at Fido's Coffee Shop, patron Jay Joyce initiated discussions centered on musical topics. As a performer and studio overseer, Joyce had previously collaborated with Lisa Germano, the Wallflowers, Patty Griffin, and Evan & Jaron. This connection blossomed into camaraderie, yielding composed tracks and ultimately a demo comprising nine songs for the band. Atticus Fault secured a recording contract with Uninhibited/MCA in 2001, enlisting Joyce once more for album production. The outcome manifested as a noteworthy self-titled release appearing in the autumn of that year.
