Biography
An ephemeral doo-wop group comprising Augie Austin, Eddie Singleton, and several unidentified participants issued only one record. Brunswick Records released that 1958 single, which coupled “Too Late” with “My Heart Let Me Be Free,” yielding modest returns that failed to spark widespread attention or register on any notable charts. Before the Chromatics, Singleton cut a handful of sides for Old Town that have never seen release; afterward he participated in numerous further recording projects. He wed Raynoma Singleton-Gordy, Berry Gordy’s second wife. Eddie and Raynoma established Shrine Records in Washington, D.C., a venture that folded less than two years after its launch.
