Avec le soleil sortant de sa bouche

In Montreal, bassist and composer Jean-Sebastien Truchy established the Canadian experimental rock collective known as Avec le Soleil Sortant de Sa Bouche. Having previously played in the influential avant rockers Fly Pan Am, Truchy brought together guitarist Sebastien Fournier along with drummer Nasir Hasan to launch this endeavor. The project centered on a mostly instrumental approach, blending elements of Krautrock and funk grooves alongside angular experimental indie rock. Throughout the next couple of years, the ensemble refined its sonic identity by incorporating guitarist Eric Gringas, whose credits include Fly Pan Am and Pas Chic Chic!, while shifting drummer duties from Hasan to Samuel Bobony. The distinctive art funk compositions aligned seamlessly with the esteemed Montreal-based independent label Constellation Records, which also hosts Fly Pan Am along with indie instrumental giants Godspeed You! Black Emperor and numerous other notable, highly inventive Canadian artists. Constellation issued the group's first album, Zubberdust!, toward the end of 2014, containing a pair of energetic extended tracks brimming with unconventional guitar grooves, understated synth details, and intermittent vocal chants without words.
