Biography
Erik Larson, already responsible for composing numerous tracks and playing half the guitar parts in the Virginia stone-rock band Alabama Thunder Pussy, sought an outlet for his restless energy by taking on drumming and vocal duties in the power trio Axehandle. This side project also includes his ATP colleagues Ryan Lake handling both guitar and bass lines, along with Bryan Cox managing drums and percussion simultaneously. Serving purely as a recording venture for the time being, Axehandle utilized their combined percussion strengths and abundant tribal rhythms across an eclectic self-titled debut album released on Small Stone, which incorporated heavy metallic grooves, relaxed blues-rock elements, psychedelic influences, and narratives centered on murder.
