Ben McCullough, based in New Orleans, lent his voice and instruments to multiple garage, psych, and punk outfits under the Benny Divine name, among them Gary Wrong Group, Missing Monuments, Natural Child, and Wizzard Sleeve. Under the solo alias Bênní he abandons guitars entirely for atmospheric synthesizers whose textures summon the film scores of Vangelis and Moroder as well as Iasos’s otherworldly new age. Memphis garage-rock stronghold Goner Records released both of his albums, I & II in 2017 and The Return in 2018.

Bênní first appeared live in New Orleans during April 2016. He kept performing, sharing bills with Quintron & Miss Pussycat and Shannon & the Clams, and a cassette surfaced before the year closed. After SXSW shows and opening slots for Hans-Joachim Roedelius in 2017, Goner Records issued the debut LP I & II, which was succeeded by The Return the next year.
