Biography
In Seattle during 1992, alto saxophonist Briggan Krauss joined forces with guitarist Brad Schoeppach and drummer Aaron Alexander to form the group BABKAS, an acronym assembled from the opening initials of each player's first and last names. The three participants were still enrolled as students when the project began. Since that period they have performed across the American West Coast, throughout Canada, and, during 1996, across Europe. Their exploratory approach depends on tight collective interaction, selected composed passages, and abundant spontaneous improvisation. Beyond their joint work, each musician has pursued wide-ranging freelance projects, and together they have issued multiple vivid recordings on the Songlines imprint beginning with their first release in 1993.
