Baby Boy Da Prince

Baby Boy da Prince, a native of New Orleans, drew inspiration from the city’s dominant labels, No Limit and Cash Money Records. He entered the rap scene by serving as the opening act for No Limit artist Choppa at a live show. Around 2004 he joined the independent imprint Extreme Entertainment, where subsequent opening slots for 50 Cent and Juvenile helped build his profile. In 2005 Hurricane Katrina upended his life, yet he survived the catastrophe. He pressed ahead with his music and recorded “The Way I Live,” whose relaxed refrain reached number one in New Orleans as the city recovered. Extreme Entertainment then arranged a distribution pact with Universal Republic, resulting in the March 2007 release of his debut album, Across the Water.
