Bachman & Turner

Randy Bachman departed Bachman-Turner Overdrive after the band issued its Freeways album in 1977. He recorded and put out the solo set Survivor the following year, then launched the short-lived Ironhorse in 1979. That project yielded two albums before the lineup adopted the name Union. The revamped ensemble, which featured ex-BTO colleague Fred Turner, delivered just one record, On Strike, in 1981. Bachman and Turner subsequently took part in a BTO reunion that produced the 1984 studio album Bachman-Turner Overdrive; the supporting tour yielded the live document Live! Live! Live! in 1985. Successive editions of the group continued performing until 1991, when Bachman exited permanently, although assorted lineups remained active on the road through 2004. All remaining corporate structures tied to the band, encompassing its touring and management operations, were formally wound down in 2005. Bachman and Turner resumed their partnership in 2009, cutting the self-titled Bachman & Turner album that appeared the next year.
