Biography
John "Speedo" Reis, the prolific San Diego-based indie rocker, created Back Off Cupids as his solo outlet after first appearing in the short-lived hardcore band Pitchfork and later assembling both Rocket from the Crypt and Drive Like Jehu, two of the decade’s most celebrated art-punk groups. Reis began composing the score for Drama in the Lunar Womb in 1994, but after the film’s cancellation he finished the recordings under the Back Off Cupids name, and following a series of singles plus compilation tracks he issued a self-titled LP on the Drunken Fish label in early 2000.
