Biography
A German rock outfit drew its main drive from the commanding voice of American expatriate Shaun Williamson, born in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, while Oliver Güttinger and Kai Portolano handled guitars, Achim Gschwend sat behind the drums, and Frank Scharfft anchored the bass. Early momentum came largely from the involvement of Andrew Loog Oldham, the Rolling Stones’ one-time manager and producer, whose participation alone triggered widespread media attention. Critics responded positively to the group’s sincere revival of the hard-rocking Small Faces and Led Zeppelin style once the self-titled debut album appeared in 1995 on the European imprint Mausoleum Records. Veteran engineer Ed Miller, whose prior credits include the Black Crowes, 38 Special, and the Georgia Satellites, oversaw the sessions, and the use of Williamson’s straightforward English lyrics removed any language obstacles for overseas listeners. Williamson subsequently collaborated with the Sunnyland Blues Band and King Karma.
