Biography
Los Angeles duo Band Aparte, formed by Brian Mendoza and Tara Jane, weaves a moody fusion of jittery post-punk with sunlit West Coast goth rock textures. Taking cues from foundational acts including Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, the Cure, Echo & the Bunnymen, Sonic Youth, New Order, and Dead Kennedys, the pair’s sharp blend of somber darkwave and expansive pop melodies led them to sign with L.A. indie imprint Manifesto Records. Their first full-length release, Memory on Trial, appeared in 2016.
