Biography
Drawing from the influence of her mother, who performed as a lounge singer, Michelle Malone put out a pair of solo records during the middle of the 1980s titled For You Not Them and New Experience. In addition to leading the group Drag the River, she went on to establish Band de Soleil alongside bassist Mike Snowden and drummer Danny Bigay. Serving in the capacities of singer, songwriter, guitarist, and producer for the ensemble, Malone—whose vocal style has drawn comparisons to Janis Joplin due to its soulful and bluesy qualities—oversaw their releases Redemption Dream and Bird on Fire.
