Biography
The members of Bandit Queen—Tracy Godding on vocals and guitar, Janet Wolstenholme on bass and vocals, and David Eric Galley on drums and vocals—absorbed their melodic and soulful sensibilities from a deep stack of vintage Motown, Al Green, and Blondie recordings. Drawing on that foundation, the group delivered those influences to listeners in their native Manchester, England. Taking its name from the Indian outlaw Phoolan Davi, the band channeled raw tensions around revenge and sex on its first album, “Hormone Hotel,” released by Playtime Amuse Records in 1995.
