Bankshot

Bankshot forges high-voltage hybrid compositions sparked by ska, punk rock, and assorted alternative currents, thereby advancing its core aim of erasing stylistic boundaries through a wide-ranging roster. The group assembled in Richmond, VA, during 1997, uniting Danny Bowder on vocals and guitar with Jason Clark on trombone, Jonathan Godwin on drums, Andy Lopez on trumpet, Lawrence Lopez on tenor saxophone, and John Mason on bass. By delivering their charged, high-energy material in electrifying performances throughout nearby venues, Bankshot swiftly established itself as a fixture in the regional circuit. Over the ensuing three years the musicians maintained a rigorous touring schedule while simultaneously readying material for their first recording. Their debut effort, the self-titled and independently issued album Bankshot, reached stores in 2000 and garnered both strong commercial traction and enthusiastic critical notices. The next year brought the ensemble’s initial personnel shifts, as vocalist Zach Woodson and Danny Browder departed. Undeterred, the remaining members kept mounting live appearances while recruiting suitable replacements.
