Biography
Based in New York, the project Batidos—translating from Spanish as milkshakes—brought together Chicago-born DJ and producer Ron Trent with Jay Rodríguez, the talented saxophonist, flute player, and clarinetist from acid jazz outfit Groove Collective. This experimental duo enlisted Grammy-winning Chucho Valdés along with percussionist Eddie Bobe to produce their debut record Olajope, an experimental album incorporating traditional Latin American rhythms, jazz, Afro-Cuban sounds, and electronica.
