Biography
Bay of Pigs, a Latin rock quartet, entered the American music landscape during the 1990s by delivering a fusion of heavy metal and Afro-Cuban elements. Their name references the unsuccessful 1961 effort by Cuban exiles to seize the island at Playa Girón, better known as the Bay of Pigs. Seeking closer engagement with Central American conditions, the group joined a cultural exchange tour of El Salvador in 1997. Once one of their tracks appeared on the Aztlan Records anthology Los Punkeros, the foursome issued their debut full-length, the self-titled Bay of Pigs, through New York’s Lowco Records.
