Beachheads

Formed in 2015, the Norwegian indie rock quartet Beachheads drew from punk and power pop acts of the 1980s and early '90s. Its lineup centered on vocalist Børild Haughom, drummer Espen Kvaløy, bassist Marvin Nygaard, and guitarist Vidar Landa, with the final two also performing in Kvelertak, the Stavanger-based black metal party band. Shortly after the group assembled, it put out the debut 7" pairing "Shadow of a Man" with "Get Away," delivering a fuzzy, spirited 21st-century echo of Hüsker Dü and Teenage Fanclub. Additional singles appeared the next year, followed in early 2017 by the self-titled debut album on the Oslo underground imprint Fysisk Format.
