Biography
Brian Carpenter, serving as singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, assembled the Boston-based ensemble Beat Circus in 2002. The group weaves cabaret, gospel, progressive rock, and Appalachian string music into a distinctive strain of dark, funereal Americana. Relying on a rotating cast of musicians, the outfit issued Ringleaders Revolt through Innova Records in 2004. Dreamland appeared next in 2008 on the Cuneiform label, opening the "Weird American Gothic" trilogy. Cuneiform also delivered Boy from Black Mountain in 2009.
