Hailing from Birmingham, England, the new wave-infused punk-pop group Beat Union issued its first full-length album in 2008 and backed the release with an extended series of concerts that included that summer’s Warped Tour. The band’s sound reflects British new wave acts such as the Clash, the Police, Elvis Costello, the Jam, Squeeze, and Joe Jackson, and its roster includes Dave Warsop on lead vocals and guitar, Dean Ashton on lead guitar and vocals, Ade Preston on bass, and Luke Johnson on drums. Science Records released the debut album Disconnected in 2008; Goldfinger frontman John Feldmann produced the sessions in Los Angeles after recently helming the Used’s Lies for Liars (2007), Atreyu’s Lead Sails Paper Anchor (2007), and City Sleeps’ Not an Angel (2007). In support of the record, Beat Union toured alongside Goldfinger, performed at the Great Escape festival in Brighton, England, and joined Warped Tour on its summer route across the United States.
